Train Street round the corner, Hoan Kiem Lake a ten-minute walk.
Silk Path Hotel Hanoi is a 4-star, 106-room city hotel at 195–199 Hang Bong Street, on the western edge of the Old Quarter. It suits first-time visitors who want to walk to the lake, Train Street and the railway station, and who care more about location and a quiet room than a pool.
Quick facts
Silk Path at a glance
Silk Path Hotel Hanoi is a 10-storey, 4-star hotel with 106 rooms on Hang Bong Street, opened in 2010 as one of the first 4-star hotels inside the Old Quarter. The location is the reason to book: Train Street is about 200 m away and Hoan Kiem Lake 800 m. The catch is that there is no swimming pool, and the entry-level Deluxe rooms face inwards rather than onto the street.
It fits best if you plan to be out walking the Old Quarter all day and want a calm, well-run base for the evenings.

Why guests choose Silk Path
Three things decide it for most guests, and each one can be checked before you book.
Train Street at the end of the road
The railway that crosses the Old Quarter runs about 200 m from the door, so you can catch a train passing on foot in a few minutes. Hoan Kiem Lake, Hoa Lo Prison and St Joseph’s Cathedral are all within a 12-minute walk.
Rooms bigger than the Old Quarter norm
Executive rooms are 35 m² and Premium Executive rooms 40 m², large for this part of Hanoi. Every room type lists a bathtub as well as a shower.
A wellness floor instead of a pool
There is no swimming pool, but the top floor has a large jacuzzi, a sauna, a steam room and a small gym. After a humid day of walking, that is what most guests actually use.
Which room to book at Silk Path
For most couples, book an Executive room: 35 m², a city view and, in some rooms, a small balcony. The real difference between the types is the window. Deluxe rooms (25 m²) face inwards, Premium Deluxe rooms (also 25 m²) look onto the neighbourhood, and Premium Executive adds 5 m² and a king or twin choice.
25 m² · Neighbourhood view · King or twin
Premium Deluxe
Best for a short stay when you want daylight without paying for extra space. The trade-off: the view is of nearby buildings, not a skyline.

Where is Silk Path?
Silk Path stands at 195–199 Hang Bong Street, on the western side of the Old Quarter, about 800 m west of Hoan Kiem Lake and 200 m from Train Street. Almost everything a first visit needs is walkable; for the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum or West Lake, a Grab takes 5–15 minutes.
Measured from the hotel entrance
Is Silk Path right for you?
No hotel suits everyone. This is who tends to love it, and who would be happier somewhere else.
A good fit if you
- Plan to walk to the lake, Train Street and Hoa Lo Prison rather than ride everywhere.
- You are catching a night train to Sapa or Lao Cai: Hanoi Railway Station is a 10-minute walk.
- You like a larger room than the Old Quarter usually offers, with a bathtub.
- You would rather end the day in a jacuzzi and sauna than at a rooftop bar.
Look elsewhere if you
- You want a swimming pool: the hotel has none.
- You want a lake view; Hoan Kiem is 800 m away and not visible from the rooms.
- You need daylight but book the lowest-priced Deluxe rate: those rooms face inwards.
Silk Path Hotel Hanoi FAQ: what guests ask before booking
The practical questions that decide a booking — distances measured, policies read, nothing guessed. Facts checked October 2026.
Location & getting there6
How far is Silk Path Hotel Hanoi from Train Street, and can you walk it?
Yes. Train Street, where the railway squeezes between houses and cafés, is about 200 m from the hotel, a walk of three to five minutes. Trains pass only a few times a day and timetables change, so ask the front desk for that day’s times. Access to the café strip along the track is sometimes restricted by the local police; if it is closed, you can still watch from the street crossings.
How long is the walk from Silk Path to Hoan Kiem Lake?
About 10 to 12 minutes on foot, roughly 800 m east along Hang Bong and Hang Gai streets, which are busy shopping streets with narrow pavements and parked motorbikes. From Friday evening to Sunday night the streets around the lake close to traffic and become a walking zone, which makes the walk easier.
How do I get from Noi Bai Airport to Silk Path Hotel Hanoi, and what does it cost?
The hotel is about 26 km from Noi Bai, 30 to 50 minutes by car depending on traffic. The hotel’s own car is listed at USD 60 per vehicle one way for up to three people; book it before you fly. A metered taxi runs about VND 300,000–400,000, and airport bus 86 costs VND 45,000 and ends at Hanoi Railway Station, a 10-minute walk away (fares as of January 2026).
Is Silk Path close to Hanoi Railway Station for the night train to Sapa?
Yes. The station is about 750 m from the hotel, a 10-minute walk or a short Grab ride with luggage. Night trains to Lao Cai leave in the evening, so ask the hotel to hold your bags after check-out and, if you need a shower before the train, request a late check-out in advance.
Can a car or tour bus stop outside Silk Path Hotel Hanoi?
Cars and minibuses can stop briefly at the door to drop off or collect guests, but the hotel has no car park; listings mention motorbike parking only. Hang Bong is a busy one-way street, so give your tour company the full address, 195–199 Hang Bong, and be ready at the agreed time rather than asking the driver to wait.
Is Silk Path Hotel Hanoi the same as Silk Path Boutique Hanoi or Silk Path Luxury Hanoi?
Silk Path Luxury Hanoi is a name some booking sites use for this hotel on Hang Bong Street. Silk Path Boutique Hanoi is a different, smaller hotel from the same group at 21 Hang Khay, beside Hoan Kiem Lake. Check that the address on your booking page reads 195–199 Hang Bong before you pay.
Rooms & windows6
Which rooms at Silk Path Hotel Hanoi have no outside window?
The Deluxe and Triple rooms are described by the hotel as having an internal view, meaning they do not look out onto the street. Premium Deluxe rooms, the same 25 m² size as Deluxe, have windows onto the neighbourhood, and Executive, Premium Executive and the Presidential Suite have a city view. If daylight matters, the step up from Deluxe is worth it.
Which Silk Path rooms have a balcony?
The hotel describes a balcony for Executive rooms as subject to availability, so not every Executive room has one. Photos of Premium Executive rooms also show tall glass doors, but the hotel does not promise a balcony for that type. Book an Executive room and ask the hotel to note a balcony on your reservation; it is a request, not a guarantee.
What is the difference between Deluxe and Premium Deluxe at Silk Path?
Both are 25 m² with a king bed or two singles and a bathtub, so the difference is the window: Deluxe rooms face inwards, while Premium Deluxe rooms look onto the surrounding streets and get daylight. Premium Deluxe rooms in the photos also have darker wood panelling and red curtains, while Deluxe rooms are lighter, with gold-toned headboards.
Is the Premium Executive at Silk Path worth it over the Executive?
Choose it if you want twin beds or more space. The Premium Executive is 40 m² with a king or two singles, against 35 m² and a queen bed in the Executive. Both have a city view and take up to three adults. If a balcony is your priority, the Executive is the type the hotel links to one.
Are rooms facing Hang Bong Street at Silk Path noisy?
Expect some traffic noise on street-facing floors, because Hang Bong is a busy shopping street with motorbikes until late evening. Inward-facing Deluxe rooms are quieter but darker. For the best balance, ask for a city-view room on a high floor when you book; it is on request, so packing earplugs is sensible.
Does Silk Path Hotel Hanoi have a suite?
Yes, one: the Presidential Suite of about 150 m², with two bedrooms (a king and a queen), a living room, a kitchen and a bathtub with a city view. It does not always appear on booking pages, so if it is not listed for your dates, contact the hotel directly to ask about availability.
Arrival & house rules5
What time is check-in at Silk Path Hotel Hanoi, and when is check-out?
Rooms are ready from 2 pm, and you need to leave by 12 noon; the person checking in has to be at least 18. An earlier arrival or a later departure depends on how full the hotel is that day. Ask for it when you reserve, and again the day before, especially if your flight lands in the early morning.
Does Silk Path take a deposit at check-in?
Yes. Listings describe a refundable deposit of roughly VND 1–1.3 million per stay, taken in cash or on a card and returned at check-out after extras such as the minibar are settled. The exact amount differs between sources, so confirm it with the hotel. A card hold can take your bank a few days to release.
Can I leave luggage at Silk Path after check-out?
Yes. Reception keeps bags for departing guests, which helps if your train to Lao Cai leaves in the evening or your flight is late at night. Bags are tagged and kept behind the desk. If you would like to shower and change before leaving, book a later check-out in advance; the hotel treats it as a request and may charge for it.
Why does Silk Path ask for my passport at check-in?
Every hotel in Vietnam has to declare its foreign guests to the police, which is why reception at Silk Path scans the photo page of your passport and your visa or arrival stamp. This is a legal formality, not a security hold, and it only takes a few minutes. Make sure the passport is handed back to you before you go up to your room.
Are pets allowed at Silk Path Hotel Hanoi?
No. Current listings for Silk Path Hotel Hanoi state that pets are not allowed, and one listing extends that to service animals. If you travel with an assistance animal, contact the hotel before booking and get its answer in writing, because the booking platform cannot override the hotel’s own house rules.
Food & breakfast4
Is breakfast included at Silk Path Hotel Hanoi?
Only in some rates. Silk Path sells room rates with and without breakfast, and guests regularly note that it is an extra on the lowest rates. Paid on the day, it is listed at roughly VND 390,000–510,000 per adult depending on the source, with reduced prices for children. Compare both rate lines before you pick one.
When and where is breakfast served at Silk Path?
In La Soie de Hanoi, the restaurant on the first floor, where the buffet runs from 6:30 until 10:00 am. Expect a pho counter next to Western and vegetarian dishes. One listing gives 10:30 as the closing time, so plan on the earlier one. Leaving before it opens? Ask reception the night before about a breakfast box; it is a request, not a set service.
What restaurants and bars are inside Silk Path Hotel Hanoi?
Besides La Soie de Hanoi, there is Bellissimo, a Mediterranean restaurant on the ground floor known for its wood-fired pizza (10:30 am to 10:30 pm), Silks Bar next to it, a Piano Bar on the first floor overlooking the lobby, the street-side Terrace Café, and S’Patisserie for pastries and egg coffee.
Where can you eat near Silk Path within walking distance?
Plenty of places. Hang Bong and the lanes behind it are full of pho, bun cha and banh mi stalls, and the Old Quarter’s street-food core around Hang Buom and Ta Hien is about 15 minutes on foot. Families sometimes prefer Bellissimo downstairs after a long day, because the pizza suits children.
Spa, gym & facilities4
Does Silk Path Hotel Hanoi have a swimming pool?
No. Silk Path Hotel Hanoi has no swimming pool, indoor or outdoor. Some photos show a large tiled basin, but that is the jacuzzi in the top-floor wellness area, which also has a sauna and a steam room. If a pool matters, book elsewhere; if you mainly want to soak after a day of walking, the jacuzzi does that job.
What is in the wellness area at Silk Path, and is it free?
The top floor has a large jacuzzi, a sauna, a steam room and a small gym, with sauna and steam areas for both men and women. The hotel does not publish opening hours or say whether every facility is included in the room rate, so ask at check-in; treatments in the spa rooms are charged separately.
Is there a rooftop bar at Silk Path Hotel Hanoi?
No. The bars are on the ground and first floors: Silks Bar beside Bellissimo, the Piano Bar overlooking the lobby and the street-side Terrace Café. For a rooftop view, walk 10–12 minutes towards Hoan Kiem Lake, where several buildings around the lake have top-floor cafés and bars.
Is the Wi-Fi at Silk Path good enough for working?
Wi-Fi is free throughout, and the hotel has a business centre and a reading lounge if you need a desk away from the room. A few guests report a weaker signal in rooms far from the centre of the floor, so ask to move if a video call is important; we have no speed measurements to quote.
Families & children4
Which room at Silk Path fits a family of three?
The Triple room, 35 m² with three single beds or a king plus a single, is the simplest choice for three, although it faces inwards. Executive and Premium Executive rooms also take up to three adults and have a city view. A family of four usually needs two rooms, or the Presidential Suite.
Do children stay free at Silk Path Hotel Hanoi?
It depends on age and bedding. Cots are listed as free for children up to one year old. An extra bed for anyone aged 12 or over is charged, about VND 685,000 according to one listing. At breakfast, one listing shows children under six eating free and ages 6–11 at a reduced price. Confirm the details with the hotel when you book.
Is Silk Path easy with a pushchair or for guests with limited mobility?
Mostly. Listings describe a step-free entrance and a lift with a wide door, and the restaurants and lounge are reachable without stairs. The harder part is outside: Old Quarter pavements are narrow and often blocked by parked motorbikes, so a carrier is easier than a pushchair for the walk to the lake.
Can I get connecting rooms at Silk Path?
The hotel does not publish connecting rooms, so treat them as on request: book two rooms, then email the hotel with both booking references and ask for adjoining or connecting rooms on the same floor. Asking for rooms next to each other is the more realistic request in a city hotel of this size.
When to go4
When is the best month for a stay at Silk Path in Hanoi?
October to December is the most comfortable stretch for walking the Old Quarter: dry, mild days of roughly 20–28°C. March and April are also pleasant, although often grey. June to August is hot and humid, with heavy afternoon downpours, which is when the hotel’s jacuzzi and sauna earn their keep.
Is Tet a good time to stay in the Old Quarter?
It is quieter than many people expect. Lunar New Year falls on 6 February 2027, and for several days around it many family-run shops and street stalls close while Hanoians go home. Hotels stay open and the lake area is decorated, but book early and expect some restaurants near the hotel to be shut.
What is Hanoi like in winter?
Cool and damp from December to February, with daytime temperatures often between 14 and 20°C and frequent drizzle. Bring a light jacket for the evenings and ask for an extra blanket if your room feels cool; the jacuzzi and sauna are at their most inviting then.
How far ahead should I book Silk Path Hotel Hanoi?
For October to December and the weeks around Christmas and New Year, book a month or more ahead, because escorted tours also use this hotel and the room type you want can sell out. In the hot summer months, a week or two ahead is usually enough.
Is it right for you?3
Who is Silk Path Hotel Hanoi best for?
First-time visitors who want to explore Hanoi on foot, couples who want more space than a typical Old Quarter room, and travellers taking the night train to Sapa. It is also popular with escorted tours, so the lobby can be busy at breakfast and check-out times.
Who should choose a different hotel?
Anyone who needs a swimming pool, wants a room looking over Hoan Kiem Lake, or is on a tight budget. The hotel’s strength is a central, walkable position with roomy rooms; if you want a resort feel or the lowest-priced bed in the Old Quarter, Silk Path is not the right match.
Is Silk Path a good base for a first visit to Hanoi?
Yes. From Silk Path you can walk to Train Street, Hoa Lo Prison, St Joseph’s Cathedral, Hoan Kiem Lake and the night market without a taxi, and the Temple of Literature is about 15 minutes on foot. Day trips to Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh usually pick up from Old Quarter hotels, so ask your tour company to collect you at the door.
